Signs Your Chakras Are Under or Overactive 

I know the concept of Chakras might be new to many of you, and you won’t be even able to realize where each Chakra is located. This is why I have created a short Chakra Meditation Guide for you so that you become aware of all your 7 Chakras.

Here’s a Beginners Guide to Chakra Meditation 

First, sit in a quiet place with no distractions. Start breathing slowly, in short, inhale the pure air, feel it touching your nostrils and going inside your body. Exhale all your worries and anxieties, be present in the moment and in alignment with your body. 

Second, bring all your attention at the base of your spine, tailbone. Now imagine a circle exuding red light, feel the sensations, pulsing and the light rotating with your every breath. 

Now, bring your attention towards your spine, below your belly button. Imagine a warm and bright orange light spinning inside you and notice how it moves with your breath. 

Now you need to focus on the middle of your chest, where your heart is located. Imagine a bright green light emitting from that centre point and spreading up to your ribcage. 

Then bring your attention to your neck and throat, between your collar bones. Now, imagine bright blue light spinning inside that area. Just focus on the pulses and sensations, you might get an urge to swallow your saliva or clear throat.

Now move your attention to the space between your eyebrows, that is your Third Eye. Now imagine a bright deep indigo light, spinning there and becoming more vivid. 

Last but not least, shift your attention to the top of your head. Probably the area which is soft when you’re a kid – the crown. Imagine a vibrant violet light spinning at the top of your head, which is connecting you with the universe and brings you peace. 

Now that we have an awareness of each Chakra, let’s talk about how to identify if your Chakras are underactive or overactive.

1. The Root Chakra

When Root Chakra is Overactive? 

Do you have anxiety issues? An overactive root chakra will cause you stress, anxiety and nervousness. This happens because of fear, the fear of your need to survive. The fear’s role is to keep us alive and get going. 

So, an overactive root chakra will shout out messages or drop hints of survival, even when there is not a minutest threat. For example, you might feel you survived such a tragic situation, where there was none. Physically, you might suffer from digestive issues, hip pain, lower back issues and prostate in men along with cysts in women. 

When Your Root Chakra is Underactive? 

In case your survival needs have been fulfilled throughout your life, your root chakra might not have been very active. In this scenario, you may experience, trouble in concentrating, experience frequent daydreaming or feel like you are in another dimension. People may call you lost or airheaded, it may not seem like an issue, but balance is the key. 

2. Sacral Chakra

When Sacral Chakra is Overactive?

Sacral Chakra is for enjoying the pleasures of life, if your Sacral Chakra is overactive, you may face issues like greediness or addiction. Pleasure is good, and you should never feel guilty for indulging in or enjoying the good things of life. However, if you are enjoying something that is not beneficial for your soul, your Sacral Chakra is out of balance. Symptoms could be an addiction to sex, alcohol, obesity, restlessness or hormonal imbalance. 

When Sacral Chakra is Underactive?

If you’re only focusing on accomplishing things, doing hard work and practical stuff without enjoying the fruits or outcomes, your Sacral Chakra is surely underactive. Symptoms may include, impotence, depression, lack of passion, decreased sex drive and creativity. 

3. Solar Plexus Chakra 

When Solar Plexus Chakra is Overactive?

The solar plexus chakra is overactive when the power we acquire in our own lives gets extended to the life of others. When this Chakra is overactive, we may get the urge to micromanage things, greediness, lack of empathy and compassion, quick anger and the need to control everyone. Physically, you may suffer from digestive issues, imbalance in your internal organs like pancreas, kidneys and liver. 

When Solar Plexus Chakra is Underactive?

This happens when the power of our lives or our personal power is taken away by some other person. Or by situations, circumstances that we have no control over, this may leave us with a lack of energy and enthusiasm. When this Chakra is underactive, you may feel insecure, indecisive, needy and timid. 

4. Heart Chakra 

When Heart Chakra is Overactive?

When the heart chakra is overactive, we may lose our personal boundaries and become habitual of making choices that are unhealthy for us in all ways – spiritually, mentally and emotionally. All these choices are made in the name of love. Here’s where self-love comes in, treating ourselves with the same kindness and compassion that we give to others is very important. But when your heart Chakra is overactive, you may find yourself, always putting the needs of others before your own needs, which is very self-destructive. Symptoms may be heartburn, interpersonal relationship issues, palpitations and fast heartbeat rate. 

When Heart Chakra is Underactive?

When your heart Chakra is underactive, you may find it difficult to getting close to anyone. Its more like building walls around yourself and your heart, not letting anyone in, this may also include feeling out of touch with your body and may encounter blood circulation problems. 

5. Throat Chakra

When Throat Chakra is Overactive?

The Throat Chakra becomes overactive when we have spent continuously a lot of time to make voice heard. This may also include feeling invalidated or ignored while expressing yourself, so to deal with this, you had to be louder with your voice. People with overactive throat chakras will often try to interrupt others, they may often be told that they have a loud voice or they like suppressing others. Physically they may suffer from throat pain, mouth ulcers, frequent infections or cavities. 

When Your Throat Chakra is Underactive?

If you have an underactive throat Chakra, you may be labelled as quiet or shy. You may also be unable to express your emotions or have a hard time finding the right words when you try to speak your truth or what’s on your mind. 

6. 3rd Eye Chakra 

When 3rd Eye Chakra is Overactive?

If you compare to all other Chakras, it is very less likely that your 3rd eye chakra will be overactive. Most among us are well aware of our physical reality and may find it very difficult to understand when we receive information outside it. If your 3rd Eye Chakra is overactive, you may find yourself getting too much involved in psychic activities like astrology, paranormal experiences or tarot card readings. 

When Your 3rd Eye Chakra is Underactive?

We live in a world that does not believe anything that they can’t see or something which is beyond their understanding. Some people invalidate intuitions, when we have an underactive 3rd eye, we may often ignore our own psychic experiences and gut feelings. Doing this disconnects us from having spiritual experiences. People with underactive 3rd Eye may have sinuses, allergies or headaches. 

7. Crown Chakra 

 When Your Crown Chakra is Overactive?

It is very less likely to have an overactive Crown Chakra because it is the source of universal energy – which is infinite. You can’t exist in this materialistic world and be overwhelmed with conscious energy. 

When Your Crown Chakra is Underactive?

An underactive Crown Chakra may make you feel like you’re just a human. Okay, no offence. If you are practising spirituality, meditation to balance your chakras, you may be closer to experience the eternal conscious energy. Meanwhile, those who do not practice it automatically may not be very conscious or awakened.

Self Love Isn’t Selfish & Why You Should Not Feel Guilty About It

My whole life, I have always been too kind to people who deliberately put me down. Continued to criticize me for who I was and how I should be a certain way, how they got offended when I refused to put up with their shit and how I would call them out on their bullshit. 

Have you ever been in a place, situation with people who would always invalidate your feelings? Tell you how you should behave or feel and continuously try to degrade your moral. I know it feels hurt, broken, and like nobody understands you, and we strive to live by How other people perceive our choices and reality. 

But you know one thing? The urge to get understood completely disappears when you know yourself. Because nobody is walking down in your shoes or living your reality, so their opinion doesn’t matter. 

The First Step to Self Love Is Setting Boundaries 

Boundaries are essential, and you should set them with your family members, friends or loved ones. They are more about how much leverage you are ready to give to others to interfere in your life. Because something your family loved ones or friends would try to control you and want you to act in a way or do things that they want. But by setting boundaries, you tell them what and what isn’t allowed in terms of behavior, actions or the degree of interference in your life. 

After You Set Boundaries, Some People Will Label You As Selfish 

It is completely okay, relax. This had happened with me when I stopped taking bullshit from others when you take a stand for yourself for the sake of your mental and emotional health. Being labelled as selfish by those people who can’t manipulate you or use you is very common. Skipping a night out, party or a family get together to spend some time with yourself is better than pretending to enjoy an event or the company of some people. 

Your Will Leave Toxic Relationships, People and Places 

Self-love will make you leave anything that dims your light whether they are friends, loved ones, spouse or family members. I can assure you that it won’t be easy because it will somehow make you feel isolated and you might get the urge to seek validation from the same people who are not good for you. But with the time you will start loving yourself, will be happier and kinder. You will be more open to others, whereas earlier you were in the bubble of your comfort zone, you will start being open to new people, experiences and places. 

Self Love Will Make You Believe in Yourself, You Will Pursue Passions That Will Inspire Others 

When you start loving yourself, you will not accept anything less than what you think you deserve. You will be more confident and start having faith in your capabilities, and this will lead you to follow your heart and pursue passions that lighten up your soul. When you completely accept yourself as you are, you will be able to share those passions with the world and inspire others. The more you start believing in yourself, the more open you will become to understanding other people’s passion and support them.

Smudging your home with the smoke of burnt herbs is one amongst the most ancient techniques of clearing energies. My personal favourites are Palo Santo and Sage, to be honest – you will feel a rush of positive energy right after the moment you burn them. They not only smell very soothing, but surely the aroma and smoke will make you feel very light as it has cleared away all your sorrows, worries and anxieties. You can buy from local markets or shop from Amazon.

Aroma candles for cleansing negative energy

Fragrances are essential, ever wondered why you feel disgusted on coming in contact with foul smells? Bad odours attract bad energy. Keep your surroundings smell fresh and pleasant, you can buy aroma candles with the goodness of white sage and natural soy blend. I have used Albero Scented Candle (Sea Salt Sage), and honestly, it’s the best one that I have ever used, which also fits in the budget.

How to Balance & Energize Your 7 Chakras

Chakras are the energy fields in our body; they are the gateways through which Life force flows inside and outside in our body, mind and soul. These energy centres are essential, and they are susceptible to energy as well, and sometimes they become clogged with residues of emotional, mental, physical and spiritual traumas and disturbances.

Your Complete Guide to 7 Chakras & Their Significance

Earlier I did not use to understand Chakras and energy.

But after my first meditation course, I experienced it. As they say that you should only believe in anything based on your own experience, not via someone else’s. Everything in this universe is matter and energy, and our body is not an exception. We all have 7 chakras, and they play a vital role in our life as they rule our health, emotions and mind. Even before modern technology, ancient people found out that all living beings carry a force that kept them alive; they’re known as the centers of energy (7 Chakras).

Chakra is an old Sanskrit word that means wheel

It is because a chakra – the life force that moves inside us is continuously rotating and spinning. The spinning energy occupies 7 centers inside our body that starts from the base of our spine to the top of our heads.

If a person is balanced and healthy, then those 7 chakras provide him/her the right balance of energy to each part of the mind, body and spirit. But if the chakras are blocked, spins too quickly or moves slowly then your health, mind and body might get imbalanced.

The 7 Chakras: Their Symbols & Meaning 

Now let’s talk about the significance that each Chakra plays in your life. We will be discussing about the purpose and location of each Chakra. We will speak of balanced and imbalanced chakras and how to balance them, heal and empower each in our next blog. 

 We have 7 Chakras:

  1. The Root Chakra
  2. The Sacral Chakra
  3. The Solar Plexus Chakra

Let me tell you that Chakras don’t belong to any religion. We all acquire them, but they have the utmost relevance in Tantric Buddhism and Hinduism. 

Root Chakra

The 1st Chakra is Root Chakra – Known as Muladhara

The name Muladhara comes from the word MULA that means root and Dhara – meaning support. The Root Chakra’s role is to connect your energy with each, which is known as grounding. 

When it comes to Root Chakra, it is more about your day to day survival on this earth. This energy center’s sole purpose is to give you everything you need for survival. In this modern age, it means emotional & financial security. 

Location & Color: The color red represents it, located at the base of your spine, just near your tailbone. It goes up and stays just below your belly button. 

Sacral Chakra

The 2nd Chakra is Sacral Chakra – Known as Svadhishana 

The second Chakra also means “the place of the self”. Sacral Chakra is all about your identity as a human and what you do with that identity. From all the 7 Chakras, your Sacral Chakra is the one that brings you creative energy and enriches your life, and it is actually the home of the creative life force and energy that helps you in enjoying your life on this earth. 

Sacral energy is the one that motivates you for enjoying the fruits of your hard work, including pleasure and play, sex and intimacy. 

Location & Color: Represented by the color orange, it is located right below your belly button extending towards the center. 

Solar Plexus Chakra

The 3rd Chakra is Solar Plexus Chakra – Known as Manipura

The third Chakra Manipura means “lustrous gem”. This Chakra is the place where your identity, self-confidence and personal power are born. We all have been in situations where we knew that it was just not right for us? The cues that you feel in your body, they’re probably known as “gut feelings”. Do you know from where these gut feelings come? In reality, it is your power, solar plexus, and you can actually feel the wisdom and confidence in its location. 

Location & Color: Represented by the colour yellow, the solar plexus is located in the center of your belly button and goes up to the end of your rib café or where your two rib cages meet at the center of your chest.

 Heart Chakra

The 4th Chakra – Heart Chakra – Known as Anahata 

The Heart Chakra’s other name is Anata, which means “unhurt”. It is responsible for compassion, love and kindness are empowered. You can easily understand this Chakra, and our heart is associated with love. That is precisely the 4th Heart Chakra is all about. It is about having love for others and for yourself, which is the reason why it is also associated with healing and health. 

Location & Color: Represented by the color green, the Heart Chakra is located right over your heart, and it goes up to your breast bones and throat. It lands in the middle of all 7 Chakras connecting upper (heaven) with lower chakras (physical world)

Throat Chakra

The 5th Chakra – Throat Chakra– Known as Vishuddha 

The 5th Chakra in our body is the Throat Chakra or Vishuddha, which means “very pure”. This Chakra gives voice to our personal truth and directs your voice and the energy to speak comes. Most public speakers have a very balanced throat Chakra. This Chakra is responsible when you clearly express your truth. It rests above your heart, connected to love and compassion you have for others and yourself. 

Location & Color: Represented by colour Blue, the Throat Chakra’s centre is right between your collar bone and radiates its energy to the center of your heart and the center of your eyes. 

3rd Eye Chakra

 6th Chakra – The Third Eye – Known as Ajna 

The 6th Chakra is our Third Eye Chakra/ Ajna, which means “beyond wisdom”. This Chakra is responsible for opening your mind to the information, which is beyond the five senses and the material world. It is often known as intuition, psychic energy, extrasensory perception – it all originated from the third eye. We have a small pine cone-shaped gland inside our brain that takes in light. The gland is known as the pineal gland, and it is responsible for making you feel awake in the day and sleepy at dawn. 

Ancient people knew that the Third Eye existed and they also found out that it received information from sources outside the five senses. 

Location & Color: Represented by color Indigo, the third eye’s center is located between your eyebrows, radiates energy up to the top of your head to down your mouth. 

 Crown Chakra

The 7th Chakra – Crown Chakra – also Known as Sahaswara

The 7th Chakra, known as Crown Chakra and Sahaswara that means “thousand-petaled”. It is our pure conscious energy. It is one among the energies, which cannot be easily fathomed into words. You can imagine it like magnetism. When you hold metal to a magnet, you can feel the tension and energy, an energy and force that is there, but you can’t see it. Conscious energy is everywhere inside everything, and it is responsible for connecting us to the universe. If we conclude its more than our own energy but rather the seed of the energy ruled by the universe. 

Location & Color: Represented by the color white, the 7th Chakra, located at the center of your head. It radiates energy down to or between your eyes, extending it outwards and upwards while connecting you with the universal energy. 

It was more of a basic explanation of all our 7 Chakras, a guide that will help you in understanding their basics. In the next blog, I will talk about how to find if your chakras are balanced or imbalanced, hyperactive or under-active and how to energize them.

This is probably the biggest mistake we do in our lives, we attach our happiness to people, whether they are partners, parents or friends. Last-minute cancelled plans or not showing up when they promised, or they still have been talking to their ex when you told them that it upsets you. You see the pattern, and it’s only us put our happiness in their hands, their actions control our emotions.

But who gave them this much of power? Because we are afraid of being alone. Whereas what we do not realize is, when you spend some time by yourself and enjoy some time alone, the company becomes an option. We only need to find something that WE LOVE DOING ALONE. It could be joining a hobby class, learning a new skill or just travelling

You Discover What You’re Looking for in a Partner 

How many times did we forgive people that we love for the mistakes they would not have been so forgiving if we would have done that? Situations, where we had to swallow our pride or where our self-respect was brutally hurt, and we chose to forgive. All just for the sake of the relationships, for the amount of time we have invested in it. But all of this, why? Because we loved them, even though we might criticize or pass on to suggestions to others saying that if we had been in your place, we would not have tolerated it. But it’s all fake, we suffer and accept the same things that we tell others to get rid off.

When we finally decide to see people for who they are and not, we want them to be; the scenario becomes pretty clear. So, the closures and endings make you understand how important it is to set boundaries. They make you aware of your own needs when it comes to a partner that leads you to find someone who’s right for you, mentally and emotionally.

I hope that all women and men out there who feel like they’re alone. Who has dealt with shit relationships fall in love with themselves and find someone who loves them more than eternity. <3

How DIYs Can Help You Become A Better Person!

I am a creative person and can end up scrolling those cute DIYs on Pinterest. Apart from scrolling through, I love experimenting and creating my DIYs of anything. But the most amazing thing I realized was while I was helping my sister in making DIY dream catchers. It took us 3-4 hours in crafting one, which started from spinning wool on the ring and then forming an intricate pattern inside. And then after every half an hour, I would look at my sister saying, okay, how much more time it’s going to take?

Enough about the process, let’s get to the core idea behind this blog. What are the two fundamental essentials for success? What I learned during my meditation course were Patience & Persistence and the DIY dream catcher making reminded me about that. Here’s what I discovered after investing a lot of time in DIYs.

Makes Your Brain Sharp & Enhances Concentration Power

Let’s face it; we all have a hard time when it comes to concentrating on one thing. We’re distracted easily, and even the wall appears to be very interesting at those times. Indulging in a DIY activity helps in balancing your body with the mind. Where you need to continually focus and watch your movements to complete that goal, this is a sort of artistic training that helps you in building up concentration power and sharpen your brain. Practice makes a man perfect!

Increases Your Patience Level

Ever landed in a situation where you should have been a little patient but ended up bursting out on a small thing? Yes, we all have been there. I was very impatient, and DIYs will surely teach you all the lessons. You will spend hours trying to perfect one thing, and sometimes you will screw it up just like we screw up something in real life but the excitement and persistence to finish that goal will surely push you to your limits. Just like hard times prepare us for future pursuits, the initial grind of failing in DIYs is just the same. In the end, you have a beautiful thing created by you.

Teaches You The Value of Things

During my school days, we had to do our projects, whether they were complex related to science or creative. But with time, the scenario has changed and now you can buy anything from ready-made paper crafts to gift wraps and hand made cards. And I am sure many among us have probably said the word, why waste time “WE CAN BUY IT”, but what we don’t realize is how instead of giving value to the hard work we measure it with money. Making your things will surely make you understand the hard work that people put into making handcrafted things.

I Starved Myself to Lose Weight & Why You Shouldn’t

Its a long back story when I was in the second year of college. Though I was in a women’s college, the kind of fun we had was quite thrilling. I have been a very shy girl, reserved and afraid of being judged. So, I never dealt with a lot of men in my life. From having a girls gang in school to ending up in a women’s college, being around men was quite uncomfortable for me. I never knew about the right and wrong, what’s acceptable and what’s not and the list goes on.

A lot of people suggest me to lose weight, and they have always been like that whether they were family friends, neighbors or men I wouldn’t even interact with, and it had a significant impact on my self-esteem and worth. It took years for me to admire my own body, love the curves and not take anyone’s opinion too personally.

There was a time during my college when I lost 8 kgs in 3 months, and the reason I gave others was my goa trip. I wanted to have a beach body, but deep inside, it was my insecurity of looking like a fat ball in shorts. The second reason was my break up, only to find out that the guy was cheating on me. This made me more insecure, self-conscious, less worthy and everything you could ever imagine. People don’t have an idea of how betrayal feels like, especially when you have known them for a decade.

I started hitting off the gym whenever I could, thankfully, I was blessed with a gym in my college. Every time I got some free time, I would run to the gym, whereas my diet included juice, paper dosa and brown bread. Days passed by, and I finally started losing weight after working out for like 3 hours in a day, a little boost of self-confidence – ahh such a lovely feeling. Months passed by, and the weight became constant, it was 62, and it was stuck at that. So, I finally went to goa, had a fantastic time but after getting back, I had to give up the gym because of exams. Even though I continued to walk one hour a day, but with a proper Indian diet, my weight suddenly bounced back with three times more speed. It triggered my anxiety, and again people started saying “YOU’VE PUT ON WEIGHT” okay as if I don’t know it. Then after months and years, I just started backfiring at them, now if they would say something my response would be and HOW IT’S THE MATTER OF YOUR CONCERN? Thankfully, this worked, and now nobody says that shit to me. But it taught me a lesson, why earlier those people were able to affect me with their opinions and words was because I felt unworthy, did not love myself, had no confidence. But as I grew like an independent girl, had the confidence to speak up and courage to tell them how my body was none of their business.

When you don’t love yourself, the whole world will make you feel unloved, but when you fall in love with the person you see in the mirror every day, the universe will send that love back to you.

3 New Year Resolutions that You Can Actually Keep

With each year we lose 365 days, 12 months and don’t know how many minutes from our lives, and yet we celebrate it. So, again a year has passed by, and some of us are still on the same page that we were last year, or took a few steps towards where we want to be.

Each year we make resolutions, some stick to them and leave them for the next year. Frankly, I never made a New Year’s resolution because I made many and could not keep them that kind of left regrets in my heart and many among us are not good at keeping resolutions. But that does not mean we don’t even try, what about making some small resolutions that we will be able to keep which will further push us for achieving the bigger ones? This year let’s come together and make some little resolutions that will have a significant impact on our lives.

Be a little more patient with yourself and others.

A wise person is very patient, according to Buddha with patience and persistence, you’re bound to be successful. But how many among us do actually have it? In this busy and fast-paced world, we want everything very quickly whether it’s trending fashion clothing, next partner, job or success.

Sometimes to have those things we may get very impatient with ourselves and others that lead to getting upset over little things, cranky mood and taking out your regrets or miseries on others. This could turn into a cycle, and you may observe that people have started avoiding you. But we all get everything at the right time, when we are ready, so we have to learn to be patient with life, situations, people and continue to do our best.

Believe in Yourself

Do you believe in the law of attraction? Some might and some may not, but we have the power and potential to get what we want. Sometimes the entire cause of our failures are our lack of faith in ourselves and doubting our potential. Whereas we should keep congratulating us on the little progress we make each day, as they say, we should focus on moving forward – run, walk or crawl but don’t stay in the same place.

The main problem is that many people have a black and white attitude if they fail – they don’t try again. But without seeing dark days, how would you know the value of sunshine? If you aimed to lose 10 kg weight in 2 months, but you only lost 5, don’t beat yourself up. Just celebrate your progress, go out and celebrate it.

Stop Overthinking & Start Doing

Have you ever imagined, how much time we lose by just thinking about something? We are always waiting for the right time or moment, whether it is asking that person you have been thinking about, start working on a new project or giving more time to your family. We are always thinking about them without taking any concrete actions, what if we replaced every thought with an action? In the end, you will probably not regret the chances you did not take and taking action towards your goal will surely take you further.
